I want to talk a bit about a minor character from a story I'm working on. She's one of many characters the main duo meets on their travels, and of those, the most fleshed out so far. She says she hasn't has visitors in ages. I haven't named her. She's a mountain spirit whose mountains are relatively small and unimpressive. The language she speaks, despite being from near the main character's home region, sounds absolutely nothing like the main character's. She has translation magic, but it can't translate any words related to writing. She sings songs originally sung by her dear friends and their tribe, who no one else remembers. The main duo, both musicians, learn these songs and promise to perform them for other people, the thought of which moves the spirit to tears. How happy her friends would be.
